A/B testing, also known as split testing, is a type of testing which entails a website or an application being duplicated. The duplicated version is then modified with some changes.
This will result in you having two different versions of the same web page or application; whichever one brings the best results is chosen as the long-term option.
A/B testing doubles as the most fundamental and common type of test in regard to video marketing.
Why Should You A/B test your video?
When it comes to any creative process, there are mainly two categories of people that should always be kept in mind:
The producer and consumer.
The producing side consists of video creators, directors, etc. The main problem with releasing any subjective piece is the discrepancy in expectations and reality.
A producer may think his video is excellent, while the consumer, i.e. the audience, may feel the opposite.
Even if the video does get a proper response, who’s to say another method wouldn’t have produced even better results?
Small tweaks to your video’s call-to-action (CTA) can mean the difference between your video converting or failing miserably. Even if you thought you made the right decision, conducting a randomized test is the only way to know whether your new plan is going to be effective.
How to A/B test a Cincopa Gallery Using Google Optimze?
You can A/B test your Cincopa Gallery by creating different versions of your Cincopa Gallery, as well. This can be done by changing multiple sections, like changing the brand color, changing button styles, etc. This will help you find out which variation of the gallery is viewed or played the most.
Follow the steps below to A/B test your Cincopa Gallery:
1. Embed your Cincopa Gallery
In this step, you will have to create a Gallery with Cincopa, if you have yet to do so.
Then, embed the gallery to a website to which Google Analytics and Google Optimize will be added to.
You can check out help documentation on creating a gallery and embedding a gallery to a web page.
In this example, we have already embedded a Cincopa Gallery to a WordPress website.
2. Create a Google Analytics Account
You will have to create a Google Analytics account, so you can link the Cincopa Gallery to receive analytical data relating to your Gallery.
Access the website URL : https://analytics.google.com and then click on Sign Up.
Now, enter your details and click on Register.
Once the Google Analytics account is created, we can then move on to Google Optimize.
3. Set up an Account with Google Optimize:
Access the website URL: https://optimize.google.com and then log in with your google account.
You can then click on Link to Google Analytics so we can connect your Google Optimze account with your Google Analytics Account.
If you are already logged in to your Google Analytics account, you will have direct access to your Google Analytics Property details.
Now, all you have to do is click on the button LINK
Now, you can then link your Google Optimize account to the web page on which you have embedded your Cincopa Gallery. Click on GET SNIPPET.
You will then receive a Google Optimze code, which you need to add to your website header.
We added the code in our WordPress header page.
You can now install a Chrome extension called Tag Assistant (by Google) to check if the Google Optimize code has already been added.
To add the extension, simply search for Tag Assistant in Chrome Web Store or access the URL: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tag-assistant-by-google/kejbdjndbnbjgmefkgdddjlbokphdefk?hl=en
Install the extension by clicking on Add To Chrome.
Once the extension is installed, access the web page on which the Cincopa Gallery is embedded. Then, click on the Tag Assistant icon in the top to see if Google Optimize is been added properly.
Now, we can start with creating an Experience, simply click on Let’s Go
Enter a name for the experience >> Enter the URL of the web page you would like to use >> select the type of Testing (In this case A/B testing) then click on CREATE.
Before we add a new variant, we will have to install a Chrome extension so we can edit it easily.
To install the chrome extension, simply search for Google Optimize in the Chrome Web Store or access the URL: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-optimize/bhdplaindhdkiflmbfbciehdccfhegci
Then, click on Add To Chrome to add it to your browser.
Now, click on Add Variant to create a new variation of the web page you entered.
Now enter the Variant Name (We named it New Styling) and click on DONE.
On the next screen, you will see the original variation and the new variation – New Styling. Click on Edit next to the new variation to add new changes.
You will now be taken to the web page you added.
Here you will see a set option trough which you can edit your web page using the new Google Optimize extension we added.
In this example, we will edit the background color and font colors of the web page with Cincopa Gallery.
And then click on Save to save the changes.
You will now see both the variation with the number of changes made. You can scroll down.
This is how you create an A/B Testing for your Cincopa Gallery.
Now, when visitors will come to your Web Page with Cincopa gallery, 50% of them will see the new variation and the remaining 50% will see the original variation.
